so the other day I was checking my email and saw 2 very strange emails. both had the title "let's talk about sex!". one was from "ur friends" and the other "ur enemies". they are both different except that they start out with "just playin'" and mention my blog's URL on the second line. they consist of a series of questions and statements that range from mildly disturbing to "lol wut?" and both were sent from the same IP using the contact form on this blog. so, because I am bored and think it'd be funny I will now answer them all. prepare yourselves.

I just spent a couple hours perusing various sections of reddit, mostly the list of subreddits (didn't even go through all of them, there's so many). I weep for the future.

so, since I've been bored and whatnot lately as per my previous post I decided it would be fun to try making a minecraft let's play. for those who don't know, a "let's play" is basically a video series where you film yourself playing a game and comment on it as you're doing so, then upload it to youtube or wherever for people to watch. I figured it'd be pretty easy to do, since editing would be simple and such. haha, that turned out to be quite a laugh.

I've spent hours pouring over various tutorials and guides on rendering settings, color correction, adjusting levels, and youtube's arcane workings. also a large amount of time tracking down suitable recording software because fraps, what I thought to be the obvious choice, was wholly inadequate unless you're recording your desktop. so now I have moved from fraps + windows movie maker to dxtory + audacity + sony vegas. I have all kind of new filter templates to account for the effects of the codec I use to render the video (mainconcept AVC), making things visible when I'm outside at night, and more! this has taken me days of work and research, which is far more work than I really intended to put into it in the first place.

however, I would rather not produce a wholly inferior product. I figure that despite the fact that there's a million minecraft let's play series out there, I should at least not make totally crappy videos on top of a completely overdone subject. plus, I'm a perfectionist to a degree. so as the third episode renders in the background, I invite you to take a look at what I have up so far. also please know that I recoreded a lot of footage at once using fraps initially so the audio levels are really bad. unfortunately I can't really help that after the fact, which is the main reason I ditched fraps once I realized my mistake.

so this will be a long and rambling rant that really has no point. you are warned. I'll hide it behind the jump here since you probably don't care
